B1s Impala and Ralph Assheton

Post by Tom F »

Hello

I'm look for photos taken in 1959 of either of these B1s, 61002 'IMPALA' and 61036 'RALPH ASSHETON'
It's for modelling purposes so I can see what the smokebox door arrangement/type was plus whether AWS had been fitted.

Cheers

Tom

This photo taken on 19th August 1958 seems to be the nearest available on the web and is a fairly clear shot of the front end

Hello, thank you I had seen that photo.

Unfortunately she went into works according to Yeadon at the end of 1958 so there is a chance of a change of door. Seems a very illusive B1.

Seems a very illusive named B1. I'm going to go off what I think she would be like with the Standard B1 door.

What published sources have you tried? Wasn't there a thread on here about Ralph Assheton not so long ago?

Power of the B1s, Yeadon Register, all my books based around York and the surrounding areas. The closest photo I have is one online posted in this thread earlier of 61002 in 1958 with a burnt smokebox door, I've now been sent a photo by our very own Guy Mannering of 61002 on Blackpool Shed in 1961, so will see if this ties with overhaul dates.

Thanks for those, sadly the 61002 photo is pre 1959 I would think with an early crest and no AWS. I think I'm just going to portray her with that type of smokebox door (more common). I need a photo of 61002 between the dates of December 1958 and May 1961 between overhauls.
