Talking of photographs, D of C and the Duchess of Hamilton, will be outside together at Shildon on Friday (17th), posing for a one day photo opportunity, before she leaves for York.
If anyone is going along I would really love to see a photo or two of the event, especially of D of C in her now completed livery.
Hopefully all those at Shildon who have worked so hard, and have done such a fantastic job on D of C, will be
decked out in their "4489, Montreal-Shildon-York-Montreal, 2012-14", blue polo shirts by then, a small token of our appreciation
for all the magnificent effort and sweat equity that has been invested in this restoration on our behalf.
Hopefully the weather will be kind for the day.
AFAIK, D of C should be leaving for York on the 29th, if all goes to plan.
Cheers,
Owd Sweedy.
Thanks for posting the pic J J. There were some waiting for me in my e-mail when I got home this evening. What an absolutely magnificent job they have done at Shildon. Much better than we could have hoped for, and much better than anything we could have done ourselves, to be honest! I think she is going to steal the show at York, and sitting right beside Mallard. Work at Exporail is well advanced on making an "idler car" from an old 40' boxcar, with buffers, hook and three link coupling, courtesy of Andrew Goodman (Moveright International), who just happened to have a spare set that he let us have, (really can't say enough good things about this bloke), to be fixed at one end with a knuckle coupler at the other. This will allow for easier, risk free, shunting in future for Waddon, the SNCF "Bourbonais", and of course D of C, though once she is in the Angus Pavilion she will probably not be coming out for a while, as it is a big job manoeuvring a loco through the buildings back wall/doors.
I am going to drool over those photos again, happy in the thought that dreams can actually come true!! My only deep regret is that I will not be able to get over to York in July myself, as I had planned, for Mallard 75 and to enjoy all six A4's together for the one and only time.

There are two further events where all six will be together;
NRM York - 26th October till 8th November 2013
NRM Shildon (outside) 15th till 25th February 2014
That is awesome, thanks for posting. As has been said An A4 exactly as she should look, we now have 3 in full LNER blue it has been a while since that could be said.
