PILMOOR JUNCTIO
Hi Can anybody suggest where I could find old photos of Pilmoor Junction. My farther grew up at the junction as his father was Station master during the war. My father tells many a tail of Mallard and the Flying Scottsman going past. Any Ideas will be graetley appreciate.

Just looking at the signal on that picture and it looks very much like the weird stuff that existed around Mirfield. Were all NER colour light signals of that kind of shape?Cuddie Headrigg wrote:Got one here with a bit of Pilmoor North Box from 1951.JJGRASS wrote:Hi Can anybody suggest where I could find old photos of Pilmoor Junction. They are an early type Westinghouse signal head. The aspects displayed by the signal in the picture were quite conventional unlike the Mirfield speed signalling which i never have got my head around. I have one of these early Westinghouse signals in my collection that came from Hackney Downs. Every casting is marked LNER. A rather nice signal.
Yes, similar to Newcastle and York prior to latest resignalling. These ones were replaced in the early 60s. The top light showed yellow and the bottom showed red, yellow or green. On this stretch the signals used to go out until a train approached, you could see the signals lighting up a couple of sections ahead as you trundled along.

GN miniature somersault in the snow.. http://richard2890.fotopic.net/p49168637.html with an LNER solenoid shunt signal ex Cambridge.
LNER searchlight rear.. http://richard2890.fotopic.net/p49168638.html
and internals.. http://richard2890.fotopic.net/p49168639.html
Don't let my boss see the cobwebs...
The shot of the mechanism internals wasn't posible with this, Westinghouse, type but i'll post a picture of a Metropolitan Vickers GRS type in due course. In this type type it is possible to see all three colours when you remove the parabolic reflector...
