Bit of a contrast between Hertford with its 2 platforms, and Broad Street that, until about 1969, had 9, Micky! :)

Fair enough Micky.
Yes, BS 1-4 had been closed, and I think, No.9, which would've been less obvious as it was outside the west wall, having been the last one created.

Very interesting stuff, gents. I always got confused about which services ran from Broad St., Fenchurch St., and Liverpool St. Apart from the obvious longer distance routes out of Liverpool St., there seemed to be much overlap of services between the three of them which no doubt led to the hastened demise of BS and FS.

Ermm ..... ,
the thousands of modern train operator "c2c"s commuters using Fenchurch Street daily would be surprised to hear of the demise of their London terminus. :D

 See, I've been away from Blighty for too long, I thought Fenchurch St. was long gone. I'll have to have a gander on the ol' web. Cheers, Steve.

Although the station is owned by Network Rail, it is in fact leased to the train operator (Greater Anglia) and they are responsible for the mangement and upkeep of it.
The only stations managed by Network Rail are the big main stations (like Kings X, Liverpool St, Waterloo, Leeds, Glasgow, etc).

You should send your complaint to the TOC with the photo so they can spring in to immediate action...
When Abellio (T/A Greater Anglia) reflect upon two points in their mission statement:

* Improving facilities at stations with a focus on comfort, safety and security.
* Becoming a major contributor within the communities we serve.

the following e-mail they received yesterday may focus their thoughts:

"Dear Sirs

Once the mess has been cleared up could you please arrange for necessary pigeon proofing works to be carried out at the above station [Hertford East] to resolve the problem shown in the attached photo?

Could you please let me know who will be actually ordering and supervising the works (name, email address and phone number) so I can liaise directly with him or her as necessary?

Yours faithfully

Pigeon poo still there today. Can't let public health risks jeopardise cash flow can we?

I share your sentiments.
