If you haven't tried them already both these local museums have some railway artefacts/displays, they may be able to help:

http://www.hornseamuseum.com/

http://www.withernsealighthouse.co.uk/

- I haven't been to either for a quite a while, so can'treally comment on what level of detail they may (or may not) have regarding the railways, but it can't hurt to ask.....

I do not recall the book in question making any mention of Wind pumps etc.
"Servicing the North Eastern Railway's Locomotives"
There is no mention in the tables inside either. Other than for Hornsea saying situated by pumping station.

I don't recall that one - I'm guessing it is no longer in print?

There are also the NER Architecture books (two of which are still in print), but I found them a bit disappointing for track side stuff (signal boxes, etc). Plenty on stations/etc but not the width of coverage I was hoping for.

"Servicing the North Eastern Railway's Locomotives"
Published by NERA
A4 65 page booklet
Edited by John Teasdale.
Marked price £8.95
ISBN 9-781873-513620

Gives detail on Water Softening, Water troughs, Water pumping stations, Water tanks, Water columns, Turntables and Coaling.

Just checked the NERA website and cannot see any mention of it so may be out of print.
Maybe someone else can get more detail possibly Daddyman?
