LOCATION IDENTIFICATION NEEDED PLEASE

Post by PETEECKFORD »

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help by identifying this location with 60019 hauling The Waverley tour on 12/11/1966. I do not know if it is heading north or south at the time but guess the gasholder at a former station is a good clue.
All help appeciated
Pete

The Six Bells Junction website has the following information:

Loco Route
60019 York - (via ECML) - Newcastle - Hexham - Carlisle - Hawick - Edinburgh Waverley - (via ECML) - York.

I agree that the topography is certainly right.

The website below - Northumbrian Railways - has some pictures of Corbridge, which I think confirm the location. Note the configuration of the end loading dock which can be seen on the original post.

The dates seem to fit too, no signal box and goods yard closed 1965.

Thank you to one and all for that super detection work. If any of you who have contributed to the solution would like a copy of the photo digitally as a thank you, just email me.
