Mick - retainers - length of 5 amp fuse wire firstly bent double, then wound one full turn of the doubled wire round the pipe and checked that the four individual turns thus formed were lying flat, side by side on the pipe, then wound the ends into a spiral stalk for inserting in the hole in the boiler. Spot of superglue on the turns on the pipe once adjusted and the same on the stalk in the hole in the boiler. Method inspired by the techniques of Morgan Gilbert and Guy Williams to name two.

Lord President in primer after a few late changes and additions, including:

*Reduced inclination of control rod on LHS of firebox
*Similar rod added to RHS as per photos (though not evident on Isinglass drwg)
*Bend in ejector pipe on LHs of firebox moved back to last knob
*Representation of bolted flange added around top of saddle
*Unwanted and erroneous holes filled
*Levelling pieces and screw holes for chassis fitting to underside of body

No new model making to show today but I do have a point of information and a question. That non-corridor streamlined tender body shown above with the A2/2, made by narrowing and otherwise modifying the body of a Bachmann A4 tender, will with minimal modifuication also fit onto the post 2004 Hornby underframe which improves its appearance a bit. It still has faults of course, being not nearly as accurate or as detailed as the current Hornby body, but we know how hard they are to obtain whereas the underframes are easy, and this tender top is at least the right style and width, would easily cast cleanly in one piece in resin, so would be better than nothing for those in need of such a tender body. Obviously it could be used to ring the changes with Hornby pacifics, to equip a post 1948 W1, or to slightly improve some Bachmann A4s.
BUT, is it a sufficiently desirable item to make the production of a mould and some resin castings a good use of time, effort and materials?

Norfolk Coast Models have some A4 streamlined tenders in stock,and A3 coal rail variety amongst many other items. A very good on line website, ( the on line order programme didn't like my Applemac) and fast delivery, very helpful in dealing with this computer illiterate pensioner. who was trying place an on line order Might worth having a look and surf through.

For those of us who love the Hornby A1/3, and are frustrated by Hornby's reluctance to introduce LNER versions, we are severely limited by the availability of alternative tenders that I believe there would be significant demand for bodies

Fortunately the tender frames are readily available as spares.

Ready painted and lined apple green tender tops to match Hornby A1/3s would be "having one's cake and eating it"!!

Just seen ten ten's posting - are Norfolk Coast selling 4mm tenders? Surely they must be tender drive?
