Safely downloaded - missed the repeat. Only the BBC could manage to give railway modelling a leftwing slant -HD for the "upper middle class", Triang for us plebs!

It`s on again tuesday at 00.30 (better than 3 am)

Re: Model Railways on TV
I was filled with nostalgia when I saw old Bob Symes-Schutzmann appear - those modelling programs he did really showed modelling of all kinds without any patronising mickey taking. All in all I enjoyed it - despite the typical BBC left wing slant.

Glad I'm not the only one to remember that he was really Symes-Schutzmann. The name seemed to get contracted to Symes in later years.

Just to clarify for those who may have varying interpretations, where TV listings are involved; -nigeln wrote:It`s on again tuesday at 00.30 (better than 3 am)
- this really is 00:30 Tues. (29th: - Shown in Radio Times as 12.30am, after midinght in Monday's listings): Not 12.30am in Tuesday's listings - which would be Wed. morning (30th).

Not too sure why he (or whoever) chose to shorten his surname. It used to be widely known he was a Baron, but I don't think he ever stood on that title.

Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive
I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

Thanks Nigel. Having posted the original, I forgot to watch it. I'll try and watch this one.
Re: Bob Symes, see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Symes. He must be knocking on a bit now as it doesn't say he's passed on. http://www.evi.com/q/bob_symes reckons he was born on May 6th 1924, thus making him 88. see also http://translate.google.co.uk/translate ... CDgQ7gEwAQ
You must be one of the few people that buy the Radio Times. I gave up years ago, just rely on the Daily Mail Saturday supplement now. It's as good as anything.StevieG wrote:Just to clarify for those who may have varying interpretations, where TV listings are involved; -nigeln wrote:It`s on again tuesday at 00.30 (better than 3 am)

Bob Symes is still with us although apparently he's given up his garden railway. If you see Ceynix Trees at a show, ask Jacqui how he's going, they are friendly (or were when she was a member at Ely, at any rate).

RTs is a good way if you don't buy a 'daily'.

...But I would need to fire up the computer, which is not portable, before following your suggestion : Probable time to get info, - 3 minutes.nigeln wrote:Just put TV guide into you computer then you don`t need to by a daily or RTStevieG wrote:Kestrel wrote:You must be one of the few people that buy the Radio Times. Time to go to, pick up, and be looking through any printed listing - about 10 seconds.
I don't intend to make any further posts on this subject, which has virtually nothing to do with this thread's "Model Railways on TV" title.

Re: Model Railways on TV
Morning all (raining)
Are getting spoilt on TV??
As well as the program on model railways, there is a series (3 programs) on the Welsh Highland Railway, and Michael Portillo series goes on and on.
Will we get a repeat of Casey Jones on children's TV to join Thomas the tank engine?
