Don’t be like BB and miss that bloody bus again!
So plan now to get the express passenger instead:
Only four more sleeps until our Family Open Day extravaganza. I hope to see some of you that have been recently absent there on Sunday…. even Saturday to help prepare….?
Sorry BB the 9F is being washed out. It's the only part of it which will be clean.

Ay up, Steve!
That wasn't the Dewsbury bus so I'll catch the next one. The N2 looks like it could be on a train to Bradford via Wakefield that will pass through Dewsbury so, gotta go!
(sound of rapidly retreating footsteps)

If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!
Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
I’d like to thank those Forum members that made it to our Open Day.
A lot of fun was had by all but I’m glad it’s over. I had several British chaps and ladies who were on holidays visit our club and spend some time in the British section. We had several very animated conversations and quite a few laughs.
Here are some shots from the day that may interest:
QLD logging MPD…
Boy a gaggle of those internal combustion things:
Not a lot of work happening here mate:
And a real loco:
Regards
Steve

Thanks for photos, Steve. Nice modelling - even the trees look Aussie. BB (Bachelors Button, that is ) looks resplendent. Can't beat that sleek British outline. Knocks those 'plumber's nightmares' of other countries into a cocked hat. Don't even get me started on diesels, they're just butt ugly anywhere.

Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
To all our LNER fans, friends, model railway enthusiasts and Club Members. The Gold Coast Model Railway Club is to hold its first Family Open Day for 2013 at 18 Kendor Street, Arundel, QLD on Sunday 7th April from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Our club has many layouts and exhibitions and will have G, N, HO/OO, and O/On30 scales in full operation throughout the day. We also have our historic Triang train set in its full classic glory.
As the club boasts one of the largest OO/HO layouts in Australia there’s certainly a lot of action to be taken in. It’s also your chance to visit and evaluate our developing British section and the home of the Albion Junction MPD.
Car parking is easy and just out front of our clubrooms. We will have our usual BBQ gourmet delights and refreshments available throughout the day.
And for all the enthusiast and collectors, we have an extensive Buy & Sell range on hand to fulfil all your purchasing compulsions. And most of all it’s a great chance to catch up and have a great deal of fun with like-minded enthusiasts.
Our club welcomes modellers of all ages and levels of experience. The cost is a reasonable $2.00 per person and only $5.00 for a family.
The club is proudly a children friendly environment so I look forward to seeing you there.
Regards

Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
Hi Guys,
It's been a long time since I have posted but it's our final Family Open Day at the Gold Coast Model Railway Club on Sunday 6th October 2013.
So for all those lucky Queensland & Northern NSW based model railway enthusiasts please ensure you mark this important date in your calendar.
For more information, please refer to our clubs website at http://www.goldcoastmodelrailwayclub.com
Members of other clubs get free bottomless coffee and a great chance to spy upon what mischief we are getting up to. We are a family friendly club so let’s get those future modellers interested in this great hobby.
And at Albion Junction MPD the work has been somewhat slow as my real work has placed very unreasonable demands upon my time.
Our new patriotic model
A nice gaggle
Cheers
Steve

Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
No.12 is a must have for an Antipodean layout.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
Hi Guys,
This is an absolute gem of a video some 50 odd minutes long and made in the early 1960’s in glorious colour. It invoked some great memories for me and should please you all.

And yes 52D our number 12 is now our favourite A4 at Albion Junction MPD.
Have fun.

Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
Hi People,
Only seven more sleeps until our final Family Open Day for 2013 at the Gold Coast Model Railway Club on Sunday 6th October.
And we have a lot to show off chaps as our junior members have been very busy creating a modern era railway based on a fictitious container depot and MPD around the Lithgow area of NSW. The challenge of creating an escarpment rock face and associated bush being something I’m looking forward to seeing. In the meantime they have been very busy with track work which is taking shape.
And “there’s gold in them there hills” is the cry at our “O” scale layout with some new scratch built mines, bridges and infrastructure springing up the peaks of Mt Cosham.
And not to be outdone our resident expert artist has been at work (and still is) to create a realistic back scene for the British section of our developing “N” scale layout.
And while our British friends may boast about the Great Gathering, Albion Junction MPD has been appointed to host the “Greatest Gathering” of numerous fine A4 machinery found recently at the nearby Boxy Hill Tunnel and it’s stash of locos in the Strategic Reserve! And yes BB we also found some 9F’s just for you.
We hope to see some of you next Sunday…with photos to follow.
Regards

Re: Family Open Day - Gold Coast Model Railway Club
Hello Friends,
What would happen if BB arrived in his grubby 9F and nobody was home at Albion Junction?
He’d certainly be lonely and perhaps having about as much fun as a soggy water crest sandwich!
Well that’s not going to happen at our 2014 Table Sales Sunday extravaganza at the Gold Coast Model Railway Club. It’s to be held on 19th January 2014 at our club rooms at 18 Kendor Street Arundel QLD 4214. There will be over 12 tables of goodies to purchase and of course the opportunity to try our delicious meat pies with tea.
I just hope BB is able to bum a lift from the station because he’s going to miss his Yorkshire pudding at this rate!
Regards
