I do find this attitude (by the autorities, not users on here!!!!) towards level crossings totally rediculous. I can't see anything wrong with a level crossing with full barriers. How far do we have to go to try and protect utter idiots?
Its good to know where you stand. Saves making a fool of yourself later......
Re: Kent and East Sussex Railway. Their extension
Regretably a very long and expensive way - BUT as network Operators do not yet treat the road/pedestrian issues as seriously as the rail side it will be a struggle. Compare the performance with signal sighting compared with the approach to road traffic sign sighting and deveging (or not) of farm/pedestrian crossings.
NR are now trying hard, but there is a long way to go

Re: Kent and East Sussex Railway. Their extension
Its basically a knee jerk reaction by the authorities to media coverage of level crossing accidents. When a member of the public misuses a crossing and is killed, its very hard for the authorities to simply say "it was their own fault" so it is politically easier to find some reason why the railway was at fault.Coboman wrote:I do find this attitude (by the autorities, not users on here!!!!) towards level crossings totally rediculous. Add to that, the intolerance of some road users who object to having their journey delayed by a "hobby" railway and local authorities over-reaction towards potential traffic jamsCoboman wrote:I do find this attitude (by the autorities, not users on here!!!!) towards level crossings totally rediculous.
