I am going to sound like a right killjoy here, but here goes...

At a first glance this appears quite amusing, but then I cast my mind back many years to when I used to work with London Transport. One of our duties was to provide a means with which to communicate with passengers, many of whom were not English. (It was actually one of our guidelines to accept that the average passenger is in fact quite stupid, and if we regarded them as such then we couldn't go far wrong!) LT accordingly spent millions designing and installing suitable signs in order to convey messages to such passengers.

On top of that, they spend further millions returning to correct or even replace these signs which grafitti artists, or rather should I say vandals, have destroyed. Guess who pays for it? You've got it, the innocent paying passenger!

Any alteration of these signs is vandalism and therefore a criminal act, and for it to be displayed on respectable forums such as these as humour is quite irresponsible.

Sorry, this ought to be removed.

When did the OP say this was humorous? All that was posted was a URL to the Telegraph article. And the use of the word 'spoof' in the article title does not imply humour.

If you've interpreted it as humorous then that's your opinion.... In my opinion it may be a clever twist on the LU map, but irresponsible for the reasons you outlined. But then forums like these are for provoking debate.

Yeah it was a pretty BRIGHT LIGHT!!.

The main lamp face circumference was about 18-inches plus there was a 2nd lamp face attached (as a back up lamp) of about 6-inches circumference so you could give 'em BOTH BARRELS!!.
Brilliant!!! :)
Battery or mains-powered?
Where can I get one?

Micky wrote:That was battery Stevie although you could charge it up on the (box) mains power supply, i got that lamp from ARGOS about 10 or 11 years ago when i was at Camden Road box.

Someone mentioned about these very POWERFUL HAND LAMPS that MOMs can use at night apparently you can shine one of these hand lamps up the track for several hundred yards and see clear as day!!.

Don't shine it up in the air Micky, or you will blind all the pilots approaching Heathrow.

No worries Micky. I thought you might have got that a bit wrong anyway, and made a mental allowance for that.
Really it was that it was a big torch with another small light attached that I had never heard of.

You are taking this far too seriously Micky. It should be us who apologise to you for teasing.

I'm sure there are 12 million candle power lamps, in fact this one seems to be 15 million http://www.promo-wholesale.com/china/La ... 118746.htm

It is just that Rod Gilbert does a funny routine as part of his stage show, where he tries to believe that someone has lit millions of candles just to measure their light output.
