KUDU IS BACK
On November 6 last year I parted with my pc somewhat abruptly, courtesy of a 999 call and a dash to the local hospital. Last Saturday (29th) I was finally home again. Seems I had a leaky valve (the biggest) and an enlarged pipe, causing my pump to struggle and with total failure in prospect within months. So a repair job was the only choice despite the risks (apparently I presented a challenging case). This was done on December 19 by a brilliant team. Had my first Christmas in hospital, but I'd far rather spend it in bed there than at home on the mantelpiece.
Am now in a period of running in while my breastbone heals, but it won't stop me pressing keys so I plan being around from now on.
Great to be alive! And great to be back here.
Happy New Year to everyone.

Goodness me.
That certainly puts my miserable cold into stark perspective.
Glad to hear that you are recovering steadily.
Best wishes for 2013.

Re: KUDU IS BACK
.....Agreed.
It's easy not to think about the value of what we have, and subconsciously take it for granted, until we're in danger of losing it.
Welcome back indeed !

Good to see another B1 preserved. Best wishes 52D a shed that had a few.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: KUDU IS BACK
Thanks for all your support, guys.
Still not permitted to haul a full load until breastbone heals but otherwise doing ok. Weather permitting, I'll be trying a few light engine trips on the main line rather than just pottering about in the depot.
In retrospect I realise I'd been steaming badly over the past year or so, especially on gradients (plenty of those here in W Yorks). I just put it down to being overweight.
