I'll drink to that, what with more good news on the horizon, things have never been better for us LNER modellers! What would the most appropriate drink be to raise in a glass and toast our good fortune? Smething green maybe, like Chartreuse or absinthe (before dilution)? Anyway, a big Cheers from me as well. Merry Christmas to all associated with this terrific forum.

Got mine in the last hour too. Looks absolutely delightful. Haven't test run it yet though.

With this one in the bag, bids rising nicely on my ebay lots, Heljan promising a Tango, and Hornby's "big secret" in the pipeline, just for once I feel almost as happy as a little pig in muck. It'll never last.......

Having been asked a question by the the observant Mr Weallans, I thought it might be relevant to put the answer on here. Hornby's 2800 Sandringham models appear to have no white lining on the front buffer beam - well the one he saw doesn't, and neither does mine.

RCTS 2B contains numerous pictures of B17s in LNER green, including two of 2800 itself in post 1929 "number on cab" livery with Westinghouse pump present as per Hornby's version.
ALL have white lining on the front buffer beam.

Another point about the model: WATCH OUT - the exposed, thin, unsuppoerted vertical handrails on the front edges of the tender are PLASTIC!!! One of mine is already fractured.........almost certainly a good case for replacements in wire.

Good spot Graeme. Glad I've barely touched mine since releasing it from the box! Nope, mine has no white lining out either. I shall deal with that using transfers at a later date after checking all is well. There's been a few accounts of excellent running so I am hoping mine follows suit.

Click here for my Hornby B17 Review.

Suffice to say I think it's a brilliant model overall.

Simon, it certainly looks better with that lining on the buffer beam. Just as on my loco, I see your shed crew have been winching parts of the inside motion up using a block suspended from the ejector pipe....

Thank Graeme. That took an age to put on using the HMRS transfers last night, I have to say!

Ah, gotcha! Yes it is, all the way along in fact. I think the camera angle accentuates this a tad though.
