Good news - and now some sad news
Yesterday Mrs Ocean Swell gave birth to our second son, he has arrived somewhat earlier than expected but everyone is doing well. On a more LNER orientated note I took the baby's 2 yr old brother to get a couple of wooden Thomas the tank engine locos nominally from the new baby. I let him choose what he wanted and was pleased to see him go strait past the blue 0-6-0T and choose the A4 and J70. It seems he has good taste.

G'Day Gents
Congratulations on the early arrival, sounds like the arrival time of the Silver Jubilee
As you say the other young tacker has good taste, more locos for daddy to chop up

Re: Good news - and now some sad news
Earlier this year I had to head over to the UK as my grandfather had, had a serious stroke as well as cancer. For the last two weeks he had been telling my aunty that he just wanted to last long enough to know our baby had been born safely. The baby was born Tuesday and my Grandfather passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning. He said he would see the baby born and he did even though he was in a fair bit of discomfort towards the end.

Re: Good news - and now some sad news
I'm sorry for your loss. We had a similar situation early this year, the case being my Dad's auntie and her granddaughter
Our thoughts are with you and your family.
Looks like both the lads are gonna grow up to be LNER men

Re: Good news - and now some sad news
That is very sad news, but I suppose it does reflect life in its basic state. One generation's life begins and another one ends.
It is not how we would plan everything, but then we have little control over those things.
All best wishes for the babies' future.
