To see whether there were any official pictures taken, you need to consult the The Liverpool Street ‘E’ series Negative Collection Registers which are accessible at the Search Engine at the NRM. Even if you establish that pictures were taken, it is by no means certain that the negs have survived and even if they have, that the NRM will be able to copy them (or that you will be able to afford the repro costs!).

The A1 bridge at Colsterworth over the Highdyke branch : I asked an old railway friend today(bumped into him in town) ,who was a few years my senior on the footplate . It appears there was a new cutting made at the time for the A1 road , to ease the gradient of the A1,making a much deeper and wider gap for the railway to cross, of course needing a new,longer and stronger bridge.The original bridge being a more standard brick built affair,with the A1 higher, and on a steep hill.
AndyRush's dates would seem to fit with my memories in that I can't remember the old bridge (being at KX up to Dec. '60)
and ,according to Andy's facts,the old bridge was slightly further south /further from Highdyke.
The by pass was started a couple of years later ,and started just north of Great Ponton ,a couple of miles north of Colsterworth . So maybe the A1 easing and new bridge was with the bypass in mind ?

Exploring the area with Google Streetview this evening brought up this shot, looking north, of the western abutment of Bridge No.2. It still carries the '2' painted on the brickwork.

GN Bridge Book description of bridge No.2 was: 50ft 0in span, 59ft 10in skew. Concrete abutments and wings faced with brindled bricks. Two steel plate main girders, cross girders and brick jack arch flooring

Question time again I'm afraid!

Can any of you knowledgable gents tell me which was the last O2 'Tango' to haul a tippler train up the branch before it went completely over to diesels in September 1963. A photo would be a bonus but it would be a fitting chapter in my book.
I suppose at the same time I should be asking the identity of the locomotive of which was the last diesel hauled tippler working, it seems as if D5601 was the first.
I of course do realise that there was nothing much to 'celebrate' on that sad day in 1963 as many railwaymen left railway employment at Grantham as the shed closed and nobody was probably in the mood to record anything..........but I do live in hope!
