60163 Tornado 24 November 2012

Post by neilgow »

Please find attached a shot of the A1 heading west through the long gone GWR station at Shrivenham on the GWML, on the eastern outskirts of Swindon.

The train is the "Cathedrals Express"

As you can see it was a delightful autumnal day with driving rain and freezing fog. Note the new colour scheme, someday I might get the chance to stand and admire it, weather permitting.

She looks even better in blue than I thought she would.
Good riddance to that horrid shade of BR green - we've got our A1 back chaps :D

We've certainly got our A1 back and I have a feeling that Bachmann are going to give us little blue 00 gauge ones soon. :wink: :lol:

Splendiferous! First A1 I ever saw was a blue 'un. Wouldn't have it in any other colour. Just wait til you see it on a sunny day. (Might have a bit of a wait, though.)

Yes she is a real beauty. What a great livery she is in blue. If she is back in the capital does anyone know if she is still using Hither Green as her base of operations?

Hi All

I fully agree 60163 Tornado does look very smart in her new blue livery.

I enclose a photo of her I took yesterday 29th November on the outward Cathedrals Express passing Crofton Lock in Berkshire, it was just a shame about the exhaust otherwise the conditions were perfect.

Regards

David

Simon, when you say in your blog that all she is waiting for is a shed mate, do you mean;

A; A second A1

B; Blue Peter

C; Flying Scotsman

or D; The planned P2
