Still alot to do before ballasting. There are a few points that require wiring, plus the fiddle yard needs it's turntable and and the storage lines adding. Then I can start working out a timetable....thank goodness for the 1950 Working Time Table I have, it's my railway bible!

Even though my layout will be an MPD like yours, it will be very different in terms of operation. No timetable, points are all operated by hand, maybe even the turntable will be hand operated.
I'm planning for my layout to have a lot of involvment in it. So to speak.
One quick question, what turntable does Leaman Road have at the moment?
Leaman Road will have two turntables, the scenic layout one is the Heljan Table....of scene in the flddleyard beyond the scenic break is a large Fleischmann table.
The Timetable is the most important part for me, as I know I would get bored letting whatever I want run, but each to their own, this way I'm running it like a typical day at York in 1950.

60503...we have seen her on the layout before, yet to be DCC'd, but she looks rather impressive moving of the cenotaph.
60508 I don't believe has been shown before on the layout. Tim gave her a coat of Klear when he was last up, plus a touch of smoke stain. She went BR Green in April 50 I think!?! So I wanted her depicted rather clean in the new official BR livery after running in from Peterborough.

B16/1 61477 will be moving off shed to take the York-Newcastle stopping train, she will come off the train at Darlington. Her driver is drinking his cuppa while a fellow driver has a quick chat. Fireman is busy bringing the fire round....thankfully there is little clinker!

The ballasting of the track and rusting-up of the rails always makes a huge positive difference to appearances. It's quite difficult to tell from that one nice cameo shot just what the whole yard is looking like now Tom. Is the track treatment complete enough over the whole area to allow a "latest progress" overview photo?

Dec. 2018: Almost all images that disappeared from my own thread following loss of free remote hosting are now restored.
Just caught up with this thread. Cor ta heck. Like the locos. Like the cenotaph, especially the authentic Townstreet concrete finish to the body of it. Amongst 1001 other things gestating currently in the weary old bonse, I'm pondering how to get a similar effect in plasticard for a representation of the Haymarket/Kittybrewster variety....
