N7 0-6-2 Ts v Electric trains

Post by locojoe »

I've been having a look at todays train times on the Enfield Town to Liverpool Street electric trains.
Electric trains are allowed 35/33 minutes all stations from Enfield Town to Liverpool Street. e.g. Enfield Town departure 08:24 arriving 08:59 London Liverpool Street.
Electric trains time allowed
08:24 Enfield Town 08:27 Bush Hill Park 08:30 Edmonton Green 08:32 Silver Street
08:34 White Hart Lane 08:36 Bruce Grove 08:39 Seven Sisters 08:41 Stamford Hill
08:43 Stoke Newington 08:45 Rectory Road 08:49 Hackney Downs 08:51 London Fields
08:53 Cambridge Heath 08:55 Bethnal Green 08:59 London Liverpool Street
In steam days wih N7 0-6-2 Ts we were allowed 31 minutes for the same journey.

G'Day Gents

That's progress for you, and you miss out on the soot marks.

Edit...I suppose looking back at this again, you have to come to the conclusion that, there is a finite acceleration and braking rate that is hard to cross, regardless of type of traction. Hmmmm !
