Could be Elsenham Station, on the Thaxted Branch.

The loco certainly worked on the branch.

Could very well be Elsenham - photo in GERS Journal 65 page 13 shows a building very like that one in end elevation and that might be the very corner of the platform canopy visible extreme left of the photo. The train would be on the Thaxted Light Railway.

Hi Robert.

I would agree, definitely Elsenham.
I have Peter Paye's book about the branch and he has a picture taken from the same spot but dated 1952; same coaches and same loco (though renumbered 68645)

The leading carriage is an open third to GE D443, No. 61471. The rear is one of two brake thirds Nos. 62450 62461.

The three formed most of the Thaxted services from 1947-8 until the branch closed in September 1952, usually two of the three were in service at any one time, as in the picture. I cannot see a lamp on the loco so it may be about to run round to form a service back to Thaxted?

The loco is in LNER livery with LNER number so the date will be between 1948 and 1951 approx.
