Re: My models (some LNER)
Afternoon gents, I require some help with a little project I might be looking at. Does anyone know (beyond RCTS 2A) what tender type 2558 Tracery was attached to when it was based at Gorton from 9/38? Looking at the Ian Allan volume "Great Central in LNER days" it appears to have been attached to a 1928 tender, but 2A puts it as being with a non-corridor type. I assume both were 1928 builds/designs, but how do you tell them apart?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: My models (some LNER)
2558 had a GN Coal Rail tender up until May 1937 (5268) then a steamlined non corridor until December 1940 (5645) when she reverted to a GN tender until 1950 (5281).

Re: My models (some LNER)
My dad's railcar is acting up, and I wonder if anyone here has any suggestions on how to fix it. It's powered by a (dreaded) Tenshodo and has taken to falling off the track when turning off points (i.e. going from straight running onto a siding or branch). I've looked at the gears and they are still good with no cracks or loose fitting. I've tried fitting supports to stiffen up the ride, but all that does is stop the bogie from turning.
Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ay up, Manxman!
Check the back-to-backs. If they check out, then get the power bogie on a mirror. If all 4 motor bogie wheels don't touch the glass, you have a warped bogie frame.
Other than that, check for obstructions preventing the bogie from turning.

If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

Re: My models (some LNER)... thoughts towards a conversion?
Just been checking out the Model Rail review of the Hornby B17's and got intrigued by the coupled wheelbase. It looks like a match for the Robinson B3's, but I'll have to check. Assuming an SOR model turned up, how daft would this be as a starting point for a B3 coupled with a heavily converted B2 body? Of course this is just a pipe dream at the moment, rather than anything serious.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Afternoon all
The B17 was 7ft3ins + 9ft0ins, a sort of GNR standard. K2, J6, and K3 etc had the same spacing.
The B3 was 7ft3ins + 8ft3ins, the same as J52, J3 and V2.
Good luck if you have a go at the conversion.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Think I'll pass on it at the moment. Just doing a visual check, I thought that the B3 and B17 coupled wheelbases matched. Oh well, back to my other builds and finish them off before I start anything more.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Good afternoon (but here it's dark and raining)
I, too, would like a B3, which is why I checked chassis details.
Now, with Hornby making a model of a unique example, although there were six in the class, perhaps Bachmann will continue their GCR trend and produce a B3. I guess the O4 sold well, and people seem to like the Director, so I think it would sell, especially Valour as now even young people are interesting in remembering the fallen. The first ones had cutout cabs, so it would have to be a later one with windows like Valour.
Keep dreaming and it might come true

Re: My models (some LNER)
Hand on my heart, I can't see it happening, but god wouldn't it be good if it did! I'd pay serious bucks for Valour in full lined GCR livery. Nowthen this has got me thinking.... in 2018 to celebrate the 100 aniversary of the end of WW1 a triple pack containing Valour, Rememberance and Patriot. £600... Yes please! I'd pay it!
Its good to know where you stand. Saves making a fool of yourself later......

Re: My models (some LNER)
How about 2014, a hundred years after the start of WWI, they could be released in August, which would be 100 years exactly.
I'd buy Valour, but not the others. I already have a Remembrance 4-6-4T, which is a beautiful looking loco, but the Claughton named Patriot is a horrible looker. IMHO

Re: My models (some LNER)
It susrprised me somewhat to find that there are some centenary events planned for 2014. I thought 2018 would be a lot more appropriate.
Although it's not an obvious one for Bachmann to choose, very well planned design of a B3 could facilitate Sam Fay, Glenalmond, and B7 spin-offs, maybe even a B6 and O5 too....

Hiya all
Its not celebrating the start of the war, it's remembering the start of the war.
A great many people didn't see the end of the war, and these are the people that Valour etc remember.
The GCR classes of 4-6-0's are beautiful looking locos, and as the B1's and B4's are virtually the same, there are eight different locos, which would make an impressive line up.

Re: My models (some LNER)
My thoughts are to do Valour in particular with it being the GC commemoration loco, like Patriot was for the Midland and Remembrance was for the LBSC. The trouble lies with the whopping great nameplate, availability is scarce whenever I've asked about them.
Anyway, this project lies off in the dim and distant future. Three locos, two starships, four trams, one space station and a pair of Spitfires to finish before I consider looking at the B3. Honest.
