Masher Collins Driver

Post by locojoe »

A little ditty sent to me by Eddie Grant ex LMS fireman from Brent.

"I worked with Masher in 49 and he could chuck lumps out of the chimney as big as your fist. One of his sayings was “stick a couple of wheelbarrows full under the door lad to keep her warm”. I know it's not LNER so I don't need reminding I thought it amusing.

Hi all
I worked with a driver at Gateshead, his nickname was Blather. When an inspector accused him of setting fire to a corn field,he said nay lad when i put them up ,they go so high theyre stone cold when they hit the corn. End of conversation.
