An interesting project, thanks for sharing. The Youtube links work okay for me.
I've seen many re-make videos here and there, some of my favorites were re-makes of episodes that hadn't been adapted by the TV series.

Thanks, Stop-Motion is hard work, I wonder what it's like for Aardman.LNER Fan 60008 wrote:An interesting project, thanks for sharing. The Youtube links work okay for me.

I'll have to agree, My personal favourite RWS book is Enterprising Engines. The Reverand's work really shines in that book.

Re: The Railway Series
Enterprising Engines was one of Awdry's best books. Promoted rail preservation and had great stories, it can't be beat.
Had a brief look at the TV series the other week, it's just a mess. Too many characters without a meaningful job nor route to work on, always permitted to go wherever they please. It lacks the interest and consistency the Railway Series had.

Take a look at Blue Mountain Mystery, it's the new movie released this year. While it may not be the railway series, it's definately a step in the right direction after so long.LNER Fan 60008 wrote:Enterprising Engines was one of Awdry's best books. Watch carefully and you may notice some throwbacks to the Reverand's original work as well as the original T.V series.

Re: The Railway Series
Interesting, thank for the link. Having looked it over, I suppose it fares better than previous movies (continuity with the RWS is a moot point by now). Intrigued by the throwbacks, though not too surprised.
The throwbacks as a whole are really nothing new. As far back as the third to fifth series, here are a few:
Buzz Buzz - James is spun on a turntable much like in 'Tenders and Turntables'.
No Joke for James - James gets in trouble and has to work with trucks before redeeming himself.
Rusty To the Rescue - Very similar plot to 'Escape'.
Something in the Air - Henry crashes The Flying Kipper.

Re: The Railway Series
I can understand what you mean, but it's a lot more surprising in Blue Mountain Mystery, as HiT Entertainment couldn't have made themselves more distant to the RWS up until this point.LNER Fan 60008 wrote:Interesting, thank for the link. Re: The Railway Series
I did just sit there last night and watch the whole of this film. On the whole very good it certainly had me captivated I think my nephew (not yet 1) needs to be introduced to this.
don't forget about the Great Eastern Railway
Re: The Railway Series
as long as hit dont be stupid and remake any of the old classic episodes then i wont complain
however it looks good especially a scarf for percy
on another note i would like them to create new episodes using the basis of old episodes
for eg. paintpots and painters or duck takes charge
what about everybody else and which episodes would you like to get recreated

I think it would be a good idea to take a look at stories that haven't been adapted.WOOTANG wrote:as long as hit dont be stupid and remake any of the old classic episodes then i wont complain

I would love to see Super Rescue.
Or even touch of current issues on Network Rail (Virgin vs First anyone?)
The Rev did that in his books touching on the end of steam and changes to British Rail.

Re: The Railway Series
As I understand it, some episodes initially weren't adapted earlier on due to budget constraints or the topic wasn't as entrancing as other stories that were adapted instead. By the fourth season, Britt wanted to take the show her direction and often modified stories to fit what was viewed as suit.
I'm not sure what HiT went by, but I presume much of it was again calling back to existing stories instead of adapting stories that hadn't been done.
Some of the original stories were callbacks too, but not too explicit (Thomas and Bertie to Percy and Harold). The best recurring theme were the episodes with various engines (usually an older one like Edward) working against all odds to prove their worth - fantastic stories.

One of the best stories Edward's Exploit, simply wow!!!!!!!LNER Fan 60008 wrote:As I understand it, some episodes initially weren't adapted earlier on due to budget constraints or the topic wasn't as entrancing as other stories that were adapted instead. Hit took the show in a different direction to the Reverand's original intentions. The Rev intended the stories to be purely for entertainment with morals that were subtle. However Hit was forced to shove morals into the stories to have a "good" effect on children. I wouldn't blame Hit entirely for this, as there were many complaints from various parents who claimed that Thomas is bad there are too many accidents etc etc.
Besides anyone heard of this new Thomas movie slated for a release in 2014. All I know is that it is set in World War 2, and the poster is amazing.
LOOK its a real E2

Re: The Railway Series
Blimey. Had to google that to check it was real, thought it was a Mick take based on the Captain America poster! Looks like it's a Thomas v Diesel stand off. Maybe Thomas will be converted into an armoured train and fight off an attempted German landing and Diesel will end up in the middle east with the Army?!easternstreak wrote:

Those complains mostly cropped up after the fifth season which featured a rather large number of crashes compared to before.I wouldn't blame Hit entirely for this, as there were many complaints from various parents who claimed that Thomas is bad there are too many accidents etc etc.

I heard about that a while back. I wasn't sure if it was real, but am surprised they're trying another theatrical film. I remember Britt's first try at a film ('The Magic Railroad') was, for lack of better terms, a disaster. This upcoming film's poster looks rather nice, however.Besides anyone heard of this new Thomas movie slated for a release in 2014.
