Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

I've never spent a penny on iTunes. My latest expdeniture may explain that though :oops: (photography skills took a back seat with this one)

Does anyone else here remember the first time they've seen a steam locomotive?
I pretty sure no two experiences are the same, and it would be pretty interesting to hear how others have gotten into the hobby.

I'm also curious as to what the older folk got up to in their youth, can't imagine that everyone was a bunch of little angels. :mrgreen:

Edit: Forgot to mention, first standard gauge loco, Flying Scotsman. :roll:
However first narrow gauge engine was Talyllyn.

first time for a steamer - there was nowt else , first 'posh parafinn can' was a met cam 4 car unit (101) on crew training 1957 at Saltburn.

First steam loco I ever saw was probably one of the little'uns at Cleethorpes. First standard gauge steamer would be Green Arrow under the roof at York station

First steam i remember ex NER tanks shunting in Tweed dock i was 3. First diesels were EE type 4s and the mighty Deltics.
