Recently sent a copy of a couple of pages from Railway Magazine Sept 1939.
Under the above heading is the report of a J6 3608 being seen at Wolverhampton on the LMS having worked a return excursion from Skegness. It later went empty stock to Saltley sidings and then Saltley Shed. On the Monday morning it worked light back to Leicester Shed.
The magazine suggests the route had been via Birmingham, Nuneaton, Leicester, Melton, Bourne, M&GN line to Spalding and then LNER to Boston and Skegness.
So even those people who model LMS can if based in the midlands, find a place for a J6 sadly only in LNER black.
