Yes, he was the opposite of today's attention seeking 'celebrities'.
Arguably the most famous person in human history, he considered that he was privileged to be picked for the job and that is what it was - his job.
He could never have been to the moon and back without the thousands who designed and built the components, electronics and communication systems; and he fully recognised that, and that if he was to gain accolades all those others should to.

Also sad to males of a certain generation may be the justifiably less-prominently announced passing of Louise Clarke, aged 63, though hardly in the same sort of league as Armstrong of course...... , still ...............
