Well, it's not railway related at all, but it is a massive shock to the whole world. Neil Armstrong has died at the age of 82.......
R.I.P Neil, you were, and still are an inspiration to us all

Re: R.I.P Neil Armstrong
Sad news indeed.
A great and modest man. He has been quoted today as saying that he had the easy job. The thousands of nameless engineers are the ones who made it possible.

Re: R.I.P Neil Armstrong
Yes, he was the opposite of today's attention seeking 'celebrities'.
Arguably the most famous person in human history, he considered that he was privileged to be picked for the job and that is what it was - his job.
He could never have been to the moon and back without the thousands who designed and built the components, electronics and communication systems; and he fully recognised that, and that if he was to gain accolades all those others should to.

Re: R.I.P Neil Armstrong
Most definitely. An important figure in the history of our world.
Also sad to males of a certain generation may be the justifiably less-prominently announced passing of Louise Clarke, aged 63, though hardly in the same sort of league as Armstrong of course...... , still ...............
[ For any still mystified, - one of the original "Pan's People".]
