Hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Year!
This time my New Year will be in Costa Rica, so I'll be off line from Thursday 27th through to Friday the 4th. No trains alas, but plenty of birds and volcanoes.
It looks like January will be busy work-wise, but I also hope to get started on the Locomotive Database, as well as flesh out the new Constituent Company pages and add further Articles.

And a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too. I envy you going to Costa Rica, plenty of sun and sand. It looks like we may be about to have a real old fashioned English winter here. We have had freezing fog today.
Our new Grandson is devoted to Thomas the Tank Engine and cannot wait to get to grips with my layout. One of his first words was choo-choo, followed by "crash".

Everyone has been saying about the sun and sand, but we're going to be up in the hills - about 4000ft if I remember correctly. The trip is meant to be a bird trip (my wife is an ornithological scientist/professor), but there are volcanoes (which will interest me). Also it looks like we'll be the most active people in the group, so we might take our hiking side trips.
Apparently our lodge has excellent views of one of the world's most active volcanoes (Arenal). If the weather cooperates (we're in a rain forest at the end of the rainy season!) then I should get some good photographs. No trips to the crater though - Arenal is more dangerous than Stromboli or Kilauea (the other two other very active but accessible volcanoes).
re. your grandson: Sounds like he's be an early convert to DCC!
Trains are much easier to crash with DCC.
