35C is ok for the CPU on my laptop, but not for my bedroom temperature. 20-21C is more than enough to be comfortable.

And that, my friends, is exactly the reason I chose Canada over Australia. Manna, here we have our houses insulated to keep out the cold. You guys must have them insulated to keep out the heat. What do you do in those kinds of temperatures? Here, we can throw on another sweater when it turns chilly, but with your temperatures, once you're down to your underpants, what then? You must all be nudists.

Er, not quite, but shorts are the order of the day, for most of the summer, the air con (Jeep)packed up about 4 years ago, never bothered to get it fixed, I just open the window, I only take the air conditioned car (Mazda)when it's going to be in the mid 40's, that's on the grounds of safety first, ( you can dehydrate, to the point of collapse, in 40km's)

Eeeeeh, Manna, that takes me back to happy days in Central Mississippi. Checking gas pipes for leaks in mid 40s C. Ye Gods, I was glad of the aircon in my (company) truck after that! I used to have to refill the ice chest in the cab several times a day with cans of non-alcoholic beverages......

Needless to say my own pickup, cobbled together from various bits of scrap, had no aircon. No side windows either. But then I only lived 5 miles from my workplace - right on the doorstep by the lights of my mates!

You must be mad manna, my pick up was in the garage in Saudi so we hired a Dodge Dakota and guess what just outside of Dammam the compressor went on the A/C we had to drive 350 klicks with no A/C we couldnt make our minds up what was worse driving with the windows up or down, in the end it was windows up and drink plenty of water. When we got to Riyadh our agent took me to the hire companys local office and tore the biggest strip off the manager in Arabic.
I dont know what was said but i got a nice Chrysler neon whilst repairs were done.

Living in South Australia you need to embrace the hot weather, I've learned to like it, we've only had 3 days above 40C in the 2 years and I miss the occasional hot day and evening/night at the beach. My wife comes from Queensland and simply can't handel anything under 10C.
I did once have a fairly unpleasent experience, I was living at Ceduna on the Eyre Penisular in South Australia (basically the eastern end of the Nullabor). One Febuaruy we had, had about ten days in a row in the mid 40s I remember the indoor/outdoor thermometer at work reading 51.2C. One night was up around 36C and when I got up in the morning I went to have a shower and there was no water! That was hard.
My first thought was (as I was living in the teachers flats) that some of the local kids had switched off the mains for a joke as they were coming back from the beach or climbing the fence from the school pool after a night time swim. As it turned out half the town had no water. Basically there is a 450km pipeline that takes water to Ceduna from Port Lincoln, the heat had expanded the water in the town pipes and broken them in several places! There was no tap water for a week. Fortunately everyone had rainwater tanks for drinking water as the tap water alternately stunk of sulphur and chlorine and was really only for washing etc.

Certainly missing the heat atm after a drizzely week in Adelaide in the 12-15C range.

I'm visiting friends here in sunny Letchworth, Herts. at 29C and making my usual jokes about if I'd wanted heat I'd have emigrated to Australia in the first place. That said, back home in Alberta temps have been in the high 20's/low 30's since the beginning of July.

Roll on, November! Ahhh, the crisp morning air and the odd snowflake on the breeze. Different strokes, and all that.
