Query re. Battery boxes on DIA 120 Pigeon vans.

Post by rob »

Could anyone advise me on the location of these on vans from the first two builds-Stratford 1928,No.6805 and Stratford/York 1928/30 No.6830.My only photo(Tatlow NPCS book p22) shows them same side but the kit instructions warn of variations.Cheers,
Rob

Pigeon Vans

Hi Rob,
I noticed this reference to a pigeon van owned by the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway:-

It probably isn't the one you're looking for but I wondered if you may be interested.

Hello Steve,
Thanks for that but as you suspected the van is a bogie full brake,
the Chivers kit a 4 wheel dia.Its a very useful site though, esp with regard to the always controversial question of "what colour is teak" though it has to be borne in mind that these preserved coaches are by now after many refinishes and in some cases considerable rebuilds and renewals!
Cheers,
Rob
