Re: My models (some LNER)
Happy to report that my method (if you can call it that) of painting, then varnishing before giving a rub-down seems to have worked on this body, too. Admittedly, I did have my doubts, but I shall be trying thin card next time.

Re: My models (some LNER)
A couple of pictures of today's work - ready for it's first outing down to the GCR(N) and the Ruddington layout tomorrow as part of the model's weekend. I should be there for most of the day, along with at least one other of my oddities. So, if any of you fine folks are local to Nottingham, or within easy reach, it is a reasonable day out (dependant on the weather) and there's something for most everyone - model trains, miniature railway, buses on display, plus train rides down the line to possibly Loughborough (not quite overlooking Midland station, but close enough). Prices as far as I know are £5 for adults, £3 for children just for access to the site and the models, with additional payment required for the train rides. Saturday and Sunday - 10-4 possibly.
After the notice for the sponsors, and wanting a good turnout, on with the show...

And as promised, pictures of the Garratt. Took these as we tidying up for the night. I may take more from the viewing side next time I'm down.

The Garratt was on a load of about eighteen iron-ore wagons. Can't get any more behind as that is the limit on the fiddle yard for the northbound side. Southbound, we could get closer to thirtyfive behind. That's just the way the yard was set up, many, many moons ago.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Alrighty then. Loved those two films, but that's another story. This one is about something big and green, and not based anywhere near East London. I've bitten the bullet and decided to put together another 4-8-2 chassis for my Feb '46 build, so I now have two potentials for 4-4-2's in the future - just need to source loco-drive wheels and leading bogies.
Anyways, here is the result of today's work.

Re: My models (some LNER)
New tender for the Feb '46 loco is taking shape. It's a bit of a Frankenstein - Railroad FS tender, cut-and-shut to form angled rear, along with plating over the water filler and coal spaces which will be cut back to size. Photos below.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Today's iddy-biddy progress - now to the stage where I can paint and line out the tender (sounds so simple), and checking that structurally the tender matches the loco.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Had the choice made for me about going up to Pickering on Sunday. It was a fun drive - never been up that far before, and gave the chance to try out the missus' new wheels. An intriguing show, and picked up a couple of items (a Preiser artist and Glue-'n'-Glaze). Anyway, it now means I'm a little ahead and behind with my builds and repair jobs, but I do have pictures below for how far I've got.
New bogie hanger is for the pseudo-streamliner seeing as I've half-inched it's one for the stretched-P2. I could get very confused. I found it would be easier to do the swap this way as the new hanger will be hidden by the considerable skirting on 4915.

Re: My models (some LNER)
A little light progress from today - soldering joints and finding out why a repair didn't take. The joints went together much as expected. The repair - oh boy - I got the feeling that whoever had tried to put in extra wire into the RailRoad FS had got the originals mixed up, as the thing shorted out straight off with the tender attached, so the joints were redone and it runs sweet as a nut. Had a look for which era FS is loosely modelled on, and being RailRoad it doesn't match any one period. Save that for a very rainy day to alter then.

I love those two. Please do keep up the good work. Could I hint to a future project along the lines of the V2 alt with the booster truck?

Re: My models (some LNER)
Possibly, but I think I'll leave the crazies to the better modellers amongst us. Once I've got the lining and nonsuch done on the two 4-8-2's I'm going to be calling it a day for a while, and get back to my other projects before I start on with the Reid-Ramsay, again.

The bent rod is from 60800. Something went horribly wrong on the SSE or SF, dealing the damage shown
