Mallard is now two days into her repaint at NRM York. The tender has been sanded and filled so far. For those on facebook, Heritage painting (contracted for 4468 and 60008) have photo updates of 4468

She'll be in the NRM's North Yard tomorrow (2/08/12) from 10:30 to 12:00 for anyone who wants to get up close to her in this condition. I can't wait to see her! :D

Change a digit and put a temporary nameplate on her but keep your eyes skyward.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Is that making use of the leftover paint from another NRM recent repaint?

Ay up!

There was quite a bit of staining of the casing over the cylinders from her time on the main line which I believe is the main reason for the repaint.

Pity she wasn't overhauled before the repaint....
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

Mallard wasn't immaculate, her paint was chipped and rust was starting to take hold. A lot of areas have been needle gunned and the tender interior was awful

Sounds like one or two other locos in there in a similar condition. Last time I looked over 34051 and the Spinner, they looked awful close up, but still presentable from a distance.

Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive

I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.
