I think the media are confusing enthusiasm for the Olympic events on TV, i.e. those who watch athletics, swimming, etc in whatever country the games are held, with those who are happy that the games are in London.

There are millions of Britons who would have watched if the games were being held in Paris.

Well you lucky people according to people like Lord Coe & Boris Johnson EVERYONE in the UK are finally in a "party mood" with the start of the BIG EVENT only days away!!.

Apparently (according to the publicity machine) the trails and tribulations over the past few weeks over G4S and such like have all "melted away as Britain gets into party mood" yeah right??.

I wonder what time the Opening Cermony is going to be held.

It begins at 9pm on Friday (27th) and is scheduled to end just after midnight.

Seems like a complete waste of taxpayers money to me.

At the risk of being branded a kill-joy, I would have just have had The Queen (Her Maj. not the band) walk up onto a dais, cut a ribbon and say:-

"I now declare the London 2012 Olympics open"

That would have saved millions.
