Oh Atlantic you are such a wag.
BB with that type of humour you will go far......
Not much got done this weekend but I got the toilet vent on the roof, and the eagle eyed will notice the pipe brackets are smaller and neater than the ones I had on before I took the whole lot off to paint the roof. Roof is now primed in grey again after rubbing down. There still needs a bid of smoothing at the communication gear end, it's a bugger you smooth it all down...working your fingers to the bone, everything looks fine, give it a spray of paint and it still looks not to bad but take a photo and it's warts an all....hows that then.

IAK - Thank you but stop it please..I am not worthy of such praise.
I've managed to get a coat of black sprayed on the underframe (Halfords) and a coat of Vallejo Orange brown on the teak.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Thanks Mick.
Looking at the pic I have again they look darkish and patterned, I will have to make a decision at some point.
Last teak coat applied..I think. To satisfy the knife and fork brigade I put a few knots in the paint work.......

That is a very nice teak representation Dave.
How easy are the acrylics to control?

Re: Daves C & W Works
Thanks IAK.
These 2 carriages are an experiment in acrylic and I am now going to use acrylic all the time, it gives a very controlled finish with a lot of detail, much easier to use than Humbrol which I have used in the past. I put some acrylic colour on a mixing pallet and place some drops of thinners next to it, then I dip my brush in the thinners and then in the colour and brush on. You alter what you paint on with the thinning medium, building up several thin coats which should show through each other. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Dave, would you like to paint a Thompson?
Sawdust.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Assuming you are using Vallejo I have been using them to paint a Faller building and am very impressed in their coverage and the fact they do not seem to obscure detail. Must admit, your teak looks very good.
What thinners are you using?

Sawdust - It's one thing doing it in 4mm and another full size , I don't think I have the full size painting skills to follow in the foot steps of Len Clarke.
Mike - The final coats are Vallejo orange brown and the thinners I use are Vallejo. I've use water but found it left the paint a bit powdery, I have some Vallejo retarder but have not tried it yet....have you?. Overall I'm very impressed with vallejo (I only started using them in the last couple of months) and will be my paint of choice from now on along with another acrylic brand I've used for years...Miniature Paints by Gamecraft of Liverpool.

D10C - Corridor step......do I position the step as the official picture of D10C 43040, or as drawing 5801N... that is the question. Answers on a postcard, calls may be charged at a vast rate.
Re: Daves C & W Works
Personally I'd got with the photograph there Dave.
However, I re-assembled enough of Dapol's N gauge Gresley's the wrong way round in the past, maybe that is what happened there!
