Absolutely stunning - thanks for sharing Blackout. Apple green suits their fine lines. The moment Hornby make an apple green one I think my Bachmann B1s may finally disappear.

I've already shared the photo on Hornby's facebook page, demanding it in their 2013 range

Haha, yes, I've been waiting for Mayflower, along with B.H for years :) I'm still nagging Bachmann and Hornby for a K4 or K1 too

I have this rather poor photo taken in 1976, through a Mk1 window I think. The sun was at a rather inconvenient angle.

Something about only four numbers on a B1 cabside just dosen't seem right to me at all, that's the only reason I prefer it over pure LNER apple green

I got there first a long time ago!

This was my original Replica B1 renumbered as 61292 the 1948 exchange loco. It was later rechassied with a Bachmann chassis and is still giving good service a quarter of a century later.

It's certainly the correct livery at the time when she was first constructed.

It's more or less my favourite combination of liveries. The cream lettering of the British Railways era combined with the apple green is very pleasing. May I echo Ivan in being somewhat delighted that this is an authentic combination of locomotive and livery. There's not many locomotives in 1948/9 liveries (off the top of my head, 61306, 60532 and...not much else?). I personally would like to see a few more locomotives in the changeover period liveries. You can have some truly stunning combinations of livery and branding.

Yes, this loco (61306) left NBL in April 1948 and was new in apple green with BRITISH RAILWAYS on the tender. Same with 61292 was new in the livery I have modelled her.
