Re: Daves C & W Works
Mike - Somthing like that but more down at heal, I'm hoping to get some sort of water staining like your pic though. If only they would put the carriages on there more often, it's a great photo.
Phil - Thank you for sharing you must show us a picture.
Teak - I added some more wash to the red primer areas that had not been touched and I think when the top coat is applied it will look ok..fingers crossed. If not it's dead easy to strip off as it's only one side and as I found out by mistake the primer coats wipe off with thinners (I spilt some), even with the acrylic on.
Partitions are ready to fix now (still not a true colour..just can't get my camera to capture it right, it errs on the red), just got the clock to print out and glue on.

If you have some try photographing it against a mid grey background rather than your cutting board. I have some sheets of medium grey from an artshop for that purpose.Dave wrote:still not a true colour..just can't get my camera to capture it right, it errs on the red.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Mike - Thank you for that tip, I will get a grey surface.
Back to the tables...the lamps are being fitted, these are almost true to the original design, just a bit of brass to support the shade is missing and a slightly different shape to the shade..but who will know.
The clock is on the partition, this clock is the one drawn on the original D10C section drawing...just reduced in size to fit and the colours inverted and converted to black and white from a blue and cream blueprint. The clock says 10am on the drawing.....Flying Scotsman or 10pm is the other option.

Re: Daves C & W Works
I've fixed all the seats to their bases and here is a mock up of what it will look like. Note for the eagle eyed, both lines are layed out as if you were looking at them from the central walkway, and no I have not painted both ends of the seats.
Re: Daves C & W Works
Just photographing against a white (or off white) background seems to have reduced the amout of red in the image.
Digital cameras try and compare the image and adjust it by comparing the image to mid grey and then recalculating the tonal range from it. When you had predominently green/brown it adjusted the shade comparing it to the mid grey so "adjusted" the colours. By using a mid grey background in the first place, I would hope the colours would be more accurate. The photo with the white background demonstrates this.
BTW, we would probably expect that clock to work!!!!

Mike, I'm shocked. I hope you're not suggesting it doesn't?we would probably expect that clock to work
Re: Daves C & W Works
Well, it had better or when those table lamps light up it will be obvious from outside!
Hate to say this and it is very pedantic but those cast lamps don't seem very close to the lamp shown in the drawings. Turned brass Pullman lamps seem closer if you can find a source. Comet list some and you might be lucky and get Hornby as spares. Or go for their lit ones

Mike and Jwealleans.....of course the clock works.. it tells perfect time twice a day at 10am and 10pm, and working lights!, I put the clock in for a bit of fun.
Yes Mike you are right about the lamps but I did say the shade was not quite right, I will see if i can get some pullman ones tomorrow as I'm being dragged up to monkey hanging land to some model railway show.
D113 - I'm happy with the undercoat now and am just waiting to get a top coat on. The pic shows the final set of colours I used, now for the ends and other side.
D10C - before I was happy with the D113 I chickened out and gave it a light spray of Tamiya light sand....the red primer underneath gives it a darkish look.
Oh and Mike as you can see your recommendation of Humbrol 62 is a very good one.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Thank you Blackout.....you could be right...I'm very happy with it, and think acrylics may be the way forward.
Re: Daves C & W Works
I agree, the D113 loks pretty good to me as well. What I do like about your use of acrylics is it has not been put on too thick so the beading still looks nice and crisp. Looking forward to seeing the D10C.

Thanks for your kind comments Mike and BB.
The acrylics are thinned and then brushed only on the panel, not a wide sweep of colour, this keeps the moulding crisp but takes a bit more time.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Not a lot happened over the weekend, but I had a very nice day in Hartlepool on yesterday.
I got the partitions fixed in the D10C, then I could not resist placing the chairs and tables to see what it will look like, they will be fixed when it's glazed.

What is interesting is just how visible the interior is through the windows, although having a roof on might make a difference.
Those tables look ever so bare
