Hello all, I'd be grateful for any info on the GN Farringdon goods depot, for a piece we are publishing on London Reconnections. This will be Part 2 of a look at the web of lines, depots and sidings in the Farringdon/Smithfield area; Part 1 is here and covered Smithfield.
There is a fabulous plan of the depot drawn in the late C19th HERE, with a wealth of detail.
I believe the depot closed in 1959 and lay derelict for decades, but it used to be very extensive and must have been busy. But what was it like to work, what was the tonnage throughput, and from where did the depot goods trains originate?

Then the "County of London Plan 1943" and its companion publication " Reconstruction in the City of London" 1944
These have some detail and plans showing Faringdon yard and its location under the Central Markets.
