I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

Re: Daves C & W Works
When I got up this morning a strange thing was in the sky......a quick look on the internet revealed it was the SUN ! so I woke up the paint imps and told them to get to work on the D10C roof.....as yesterday was too windy and wet I'd given up hope of getting it primed. Well Mike T you need not have worried, the roof by some strange fate is the best of the lot and will need very little fettling, so on with the pipework, I'm quite relieved really, anyway here are the pics hot off the camera, the camera imp had to work very fast to get them finished.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Thank you David.
D10C Internal Partitions. I decided I could do better with the partition I had made so I stripped off the saloon side and remade it with the wall panelling, I took it down below the seating line to make life easier. The partitions are made from 10thou brass sheet using A MJT etch as a template then clad with 10thou plastic scribed or cut out as required for panels and doors. If you are wondering why the corners are trimmed/cut back, it's to allow them to be fitted into the carriage at this late stage. Normally these would be fitted when you are fitting the sides.

Stupid question: why brass and not plastic?Dave wrote:The partitions are made from 10thou brass sheet using A MJT etch as a template then clad with 10thou plastic scribed or cut out as required for panels and doors.

Mike, Not a stupid question, the final partitions should be mk III's really, as the first set I made were out of layered 10thou plastic, they proved to be a disaster, being very flimsy and after a few days warped with the glue. Thats why I went with the brass core versions....they are very strong and have not warped.

D10C Tables, here is the first prototype table, all based on drawing 6343N. I need 3 long and 3 short tables.

D10C. More progress on the seats, side arms fitted and backs rounded...oh how I wish there were some decent seats available from the trade that looked something like. I did try modifying an Ian Kirk seat but the backs are the wrong angle and by the time you have spent messing around I felt it was easier to make them from scratch.

Re: Daves C & W Works
I must say I'm stunned by peoples comments as I did not think I was doing anything that brilliant.
Anyway a bit more seating, I'm in the process of adding the cushions, this seat has the arm cushions fitted, I've found it quite relaxing carving these seats.
The 1st table was a bit too tricky to make, so I simplified the construction a bit. I made the first table with a one piece leg unit with curved top, then I realised ...TABLE CLOTHS, they cover a multitude of bits, so I made the legs out of .75 strips and no curved top infill, alot simpler. the edge beading will now probibly not be seen when I put the cloth on so I think you can see I missed if off the last tables I made......yes I know. The final pic shows a crude plastic support to the rear of the tables, this will not be seen but will help in fixing.
