Looking for Info on Wells Terrace Coalyard

Post by Mick Berg »

Hi Everyone.

Can anyone give me any info on the Wells Terrace Coalyard at Finsbury Park on the ECML?

For instance, what was its purpose, did it supply coal to lorries for local delivery, or did it send coal out to smaller yards like those on the Northern Heights branch? (or both, of course)

How was the coal handled? Was there a mechanical coal stage, or did they use a steam shovel, or just a bunch of strong guys with shovels?

I'm doing a computer railway simulation (using "Trainz") of the area round Finsbury Park, that's why I'm asking.

And of course, any pictures would be hugely appreciated but I don't expect much luck there.

Thanks,
Mick Berg.
