New Home Page Mockup

Post by richard »

Here's the first mockup for the home page...

http://www.icons-custom.com/lner/web/index.html

I think the text in the header contents needs to be larger.
Also the header is fine for the home page, but is too large for the other pages (indexes, content, etc)

What do other people think?

I like it Richard. Though I'm not sure about the edges. Instead of the current design how about having 'crisp' edges. Also, how about having an A4 and A3's leaping out of the page rather than GA.

Looking good though.

Mark, was that an offer?

I did notice the BR number on the picture used. It is a very subtle thing for a web designer who probably knows nothing about railways, and lives in a different country!
(yes, I think a V2, A3, or A4 in LNER livery would be better)

Just one question Richard; why is the preview split in two rather than one full picture?

I didn't create the mockup so I don't know. I'm surprised you saw it unless your browser is inserting a gap?

(I can only see it is two images by looking at the page's source code)

I think it's your browser, Karl. I only see it as one image.

I like that, Richard. Nicely done.

Here's an updated mockup:

http://www.icons-custom.com/lner/web/index.html

The image is now an LNER one - it could be clearer though?
I can try adjusting that myself later. What about the rest?

I Like it. Just a couple of things. 1, on the right hand side the border splits off and curves round but it doesn't do it at the other side and 2, could you have a full width photograph rather than a half page one? Obviously you will want the locomotive in the centre of the photo otherwise it will be hidden by the menu but just so its not blurred over the menu.

Otherwise nice job. :D

Karl

P.S your missing a space between the and Pennines :D

Here's a HTML version:

http://www.icons-custom.com/lner/web/index.html

This would be a good one to test with different browsers, rather than the previous image mock ups.

Here are a couple more pages made up in HTML:

http://icons-custom.com/lner/web/inner.html
http://icons-custom.com/lner/web/inner_1.html

(yes I know the contents on the second one doesn't quite make sense)

re. Fonts: For the logo, I think there might be scaling/aliasing issues. I can try to regenerate it.

Here's a page with some pictures:

http://icons-custom.com/lner/web/inner3.html

Looks better with some pictures!

At the moment I don't like the sub-section footer.

Thoughts?
