You could be right, EM. I an a martyr to sciatica and tend to see what's happening on here while prowling round, trying to stifle the tingling and pains in my legs. Maybe the Wallet also has scaitica, caused by excessive cash extraction?

The brake caliper, its securing pin, the retaining bolts and the carrier bracket have all rusted into one single pice of steel. All I have done is bent my punch.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that BB, that's no joke. The nearest experience I have had I suppose ,was a trapped nerve which caused similarly unpleasant sensations through my shoulder and all down my left arm, the most peculiar aspect being one of my fingers which went completely numb. Very strange picking things up etc! As my physio predicted, I recovered after about three months, but when I burn the candle at both ends, which happens frequently due to work, I get mild versions of the same thing. Weird.

Any way, take care - I hope you get some relief.

Plan K is now in motion. An air hammer has been ordered (£16 off fleabay, bargain or what?) plus air sockets and impact driver mustered.

The plan is this: (Jim "Thighs" Moriarty voice - owawwwwww, you got to say owawwwww)

Remove the entire hub assembly from the car, complete with disc and caliper attached. Clamp hub in girt big vice and attack various securing bolts with air impact gun. If this fails, serious heat will be applied. There is a brazing hearth and I'm not afraid to use it! Then, the air hammer will be used to (hopefully) knock out the pin. If this fails, there is a 10 ton press.

Let's see the bugger resist that!

Speaking of wandering offtrack, this thread definitely has a mechanical theme at the moment. What I'd like to know (and probably BB too) is how the hub assembly got into this state. Driving through too many puddles? Or threatening to set the wallet on it so it got all uptight?

The brake did seriously overheat last summer and I had smoke pouring from the pads most spectacular! That's the only thing I can think of. Hence the problems with seizure.

However, I can only wait for my new toy and then pounce.

The Wallet is in Intensive Care, whimpering.

Luckily the Training Centre where I'm doing the work has a HUGE industrial compressor so air supply's not a problem.

I never thought about the using the Wallet as a set of bellows. Hmmmm......

I start a part time job next week, "persuading" a Training Centre's collection of superannuated minibuses that they WILL go properly.

BB, with most you bodily parts only working at 50% (some of mine feel like 40%) wouldn't a part time job at the Ambulance station, be a better idea !!!!

I've found the a swim twice a week in the local farmers sheep dip has worked wonders, haven't had a fly blown backside for ages.......................
