Just caught Time Team on 4od and saw the preserved Hyperion at Newmarket, pity its the skeleton of the original and not the loco.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Sadly, there are only something like three locomotives unaccounted for in the 1960s scrapping.
I'd like to believe it, I really would. The inclusion of GWR engines shoots it down in flames for me. Why keep engines for a Strategic Reserve (Oh-Oh - I've said it, please kill me later! ) when they can only operate on less than 1/4 of our network? And that's BEFORE Notwork Fail made their "contribution."

I think that I read somewhere that for a time in the 1960s it was under consideration because of problems with supply of diesel oil should the cold war flare up into something more serious, but I think they dropped the idea once hints of oil under the North Sea were becoming more substantial.

Seconded. Ted Perry would have been interested in getting the Transacord material to do a full edition on CD in the original album formats, among the many other projects that he had on the go before his life was sadly cut short.
