LMS Forum

Post by Pyewipe Junction »

Does anyone else find the pop-ups on the LMS Forum really really annoying?

I could open a computer store with the number of 'free laptops' I've won!

AND you can't get rid of the ads!

Thank God that doesn't happen here!

:-)
Do they still have the Nauru internet address as well?

I do have some advertising to help offset costs, but I deliberately try to make them unobtrusive. At the moment they are Google AdWords. These are context sensitive ie. you should see things relevant to railways, but I notice we get a lot of central heating adverts (triggered by all the references to 'boilers'). I can also switch adverts off if I see ones I don't like - eg. there was an Indian singles site that appeared at one point.

Early on, I also tried adverts on the forum itself but dropped them after a few months. The annoyance vs. payoff just wasn't worth it.

Is that another reason why so few people post anything on the LMS site.
I keep looking in and frequently see nothing new for weeks on end.
Whereas this site gets additions daily. I hope that it will continue to be so.
Richard you do an excellent job.

I really dont know, It may have something to do with the fact that the LMS forum is less well known than this, and so has attracted less people.

I had an extensive site first and then added the forums. I think that definitely helped to get things going. I also had a reason for the forums - I kept getting email that I couldn't answer :-)
