i agree, but they were owned by the pullman company, which sets them apart from the conventional view that it was MIDLAND carriages that were on bogies in 1874.

BUT they were assigned by George Pullman to the Midland Railway Company, the first one shipped in as a kit of prefabricated parts, assembled by the MR at Derby and out-shopped on the 25th January 1874. They were on US-style bogies, and they ran on Midland metals. In the USA the 8-wheel bogie coach was common in the 1840s and similar types were to be found on European railways and on the Waterford & Limerick line in Ireland.
