Deltic's & 76's

Post by neilgow »

If memory serves me right, I think these may have had something to do with the LNER. Not quite the same as an A1 or 04.

55014 departing Edinburgh Haymarket 22 April 1981
55010 departing Doncaster 06 February 1981
76046 Woodhead Tunnel 15 August 1979
76023 & 76022 Dinting 28 May 1981

A slight error, the pair of 76's exiting Woodhead are 76034 & 76031, not 76046.

Ay up!

Oh, the 76s. Wonderful, utilitarian, humming, rivetted boxes on wheels. Pity we'll never see one running again in this country.

Or will we.....

A new challenge for someone?

Easy BB what we need is a parcels van with a diesel generator inside and jumper cables or pull the thing to Newcastle and shove it onto the Metro, be quite a sight on Newcastle Sunderland expresses although i fear gauging problems.
BTW are the two locos in the first pic painted in electric blue as opposed to rail blue or is it just the film stock?
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

The original photograph is on Kodak's 35mm Ektachrome 64 E6 slide film. Scanned through Photoshop CS3 and corrected to give a reasonable exposure and colour. After 30 years in a cupboard, they are not too bad.

I'm sure other experts in the 76 arena will be able to advise on their true colours at that time. Given the fact hat they only had months to go, I'd guess they were watched closely.

Ay up!

Rail Blue faded like there was no tomorrow so it may have been Rail Blue. Once.
