Class A3 2502 Hyperion

Post by buckjumper »

I'm trying to find pre-War photographs of 2502 Hyperion, but so far have only found post-War images after renumbering.

Is anyone aware of any books which definitely have such a photo?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Backjumper,

Locomotives of Sir Nigel Gresley by O. S. Nock published 1945 has a rather small image of Hyperion leaving Hawick on an Edinburgh - St Pancras train. I don't know what level of detail you are looking for and the camera of the day had a typically "soft" lens, but 2508 it is.

Have you found this picture, Adrian?

Old Time Workshop also list one from 1936 (Ref JJ2387).

Thank you for all the suggestions so far, both on and off forum, all much appreciated. This is all background research for a future 7mm model, so any further suggestions will be gratefully received. Jonathan, that link has the most useful shot so far.
