J10,S
on the main site, in the locomotives section, it states that in 1955/56 five J10,s were located at Widnes 8D (LNW), I have photographs of two, No,s 65157 and 65198, does anyone know the other numbers. I had always assumed only two moved there when Tanhouse shed closed but now it seems I was wrong. I,m glad I found out now and not after my book was finished

If you go to the following site -
http://www.britishsteam.com/
and open the LNER locomotive database and do a search for Class J10, I think that you will find the information that you need. Just how accurate their data is, I cannot be certain.

Re: J10,S
Hi solario, tried it but only information on final shed and withdrawal date, as for accuracy I,m not to sure, the details on Tanhouse Lane shed are totally inaccurate and, for anybody researching the history of the area, misleading. Thanks anyway

The five were 65138/83/6/98/65206 and the transfer was in 1954. 65186 & 65206 were at Widnes for only a few months and 65138 left in 1956.widnesian wrote:on the main site, in the locomotives section, it states that in 1955/56 five J10,s were located at Widnes 8D (LNW), I have photographs of two, No,s 65157 and 65198, does anyone know the other numbers. According to Yeadon's Register, 65157 came to Widnes on 12/3/1955 from Trafford Park. It moved on to Springs Branch in 11/1959. Condemned 8/1961.widnesian wrote:Hi Bill, made a note of the numbers, another question, I have a photo of J10 number 65157 on the turntable on Widnes 8D on the 23rd August 1955, where did she come fron , was she a later allocation

Re: J10,S
many thanks, found an interesting fact about this loco, she was the last of her class to be withdrawn which made her the last M.S.& L.R. in service and that fact alone should have meant preservation, but probably wasn,t high profile enough for the powers that be. I read somewhere that the J10,s were built in the 1890,s, to be in service for 60 years is a fine achievement, a grand old lady.

G'Day Gents
You spoke the truth there, to many fine OLD engines were scrapped without any thought, when you think that not one A3 was on the preservation list (but plenty of LMS) such a pity
