I've heard some strange stories about that. I've a feeling it might have been done on purpose as some sort of experiment?

Doesn't look like UK rail is there a matching set about 20 yards away from the other bogie?

However I have seen this done on brand new rail laid that day by a driver in a 37 near New Pudsey station who didn't know his wheels were slipping until I yelled at him. He went down about an inch into the head.
Fortunately we had some spare rail and managed to change it before possession was given up.

Ruddy hell!!. Wot made that and how did he make it??.

I know or 'rail burn' but thats taking the biscuit!!.

I don't really know much about it, but I think it was taken on Brazil's Estrado de Ferro Vitória a Minas railroad which is a metre gauge iron ore operation. The loco involved was a Krauss-Maffei unit mechanically similar to the WR Hymek's.

I could not resist this one, it's a poor copy scan from today's I newspaper showing Bangladeshis travelling to a religeous festival this week. There is a train under there somewhere!

Are you sure that wasn't National Flailing Day, as the last vacuum braked, steam heat fitted loco on the system was booked on its final passenger working?
