Paid another visit today 12/01/12,to see how the tests were going, was told everything is fine, as I was there, got a few more photos.

Wow that is some fast work. I can't say I favour the green much on a Duchess, but at least they are responding to the opinions of the railfan market.

Nice photos Trev, well up to standard!!

I cannot, and never have been able, decide whether I like them in green. Whenever I think of Duchess' I always think of City of Carlisle, parked at Upperby as 'thunderbird'

blackout, That is exactly what I think too.

Nice to hear from you Ian, my favourite colour for a Duchess is green, that is how I remember this particular one, as I think it spent most of its life in in that colour.

Hi Trev

As far as I recall, Sutherland was never in BR Maroon. She also missed the Wartime black, being the only Duchess to retain Maroon during the war. Both 'facts' I have read somewhere!!

Hi Ian,

Yes, you are correct, I have just had a look and, 1938 Crimson Lake, 1946 Post-war Black, 1952/53 BR Brunswick Green.

Nice photos. The non streamlined Duchesses look quite nice in BR green.

Excellent photographs. I do have to say the Duchess's look much better in green and no smoke deflectors.
