Re: LNER Models
Another nice surprise on returning from work Mick - LP's really looking good! I hope you're finding it easier and enjoyable second time around?
Those deflectors must be tricky to attach?
I'm intrigued by the rivets you mention. I've made a Plastikard superheater cover (one only so far) for a NRM A3/Humorist conversion I'm doing and I tried to create the "rivet-effect" by using the point of a needle from underneath. Transfers would certainly be easier!
Also I was wondering about the washout plugs etc - were they included in the Brassmasters A3 detailing kit? Again I need some for the same conversion mentioned above.

Re: LNER Models
Just as much fun as the first the dreaded valve gear is looming
Deflectors are held on by brass "legs" soldered to the rear and then planted onto the smokebox and glue added. They have been filled smooth where they meet the smokebox , since the above photo.
Archer Transfers are american company and are not cheap. Historex sell them here but it is cheaper to buy them direct.
Washout plugs are from Martin Finney who sells them as spares

Wow Mick, thanks for the fast response! Much appreciated! I seem to permanently have a shopping list for "bits" these days!

The shade of green and the pedigree force me to like it, no matter what thoughts may be about the chap who mutilated the original design.
Another nice one Mick

Re: LNER Models
Is that undercoat or final top coat on the loco body there Mick? It looks rather matt in comparison to the tender. Please don't take it as a criticism though!
