Yes indeed very interesting. I'm going to have a go at this myself. Thanks for taking the time Graeme to give a very clear account of the process.

Here are the first-attempt cast resin cylinders screwed in place on the loco, with the Hornby rear covers plugged neatly and tightly into them. I've since dealt with the bent step by the way...

A heftier stretcher is probably indicated for the steps :roll:

Seeing as it's the original Hornby mechanism, it should be absolutely fine......

Ay up!

Ran my A1/1 at the Club running session today - looked very good and STILL appears to be running faster than the Peppercorn engine! Wozzat all abart?

Little to choose between Hornby's bigger engines and Bachmann's to be fair...
