I would like to suggest a directory for modellers where a typical post might be entitled "4mm A3 superheater header covers" or "N-gauge handrail knobs". Members could post details of suppliers used etc. I am sure this would save time and repetition in the modelling forum itself.

This might be an idea for a hierarchical forum - ie. a sub-forum. I'm not sure how well such a system would work though.

In the 3-6 month time frame I am going to be migrating my web sites to a different system. Same vendor, but they should be a little bit more resilient, much bigger capacity, and the same price. I will be taking the opportunity to upgrade the forum software at the same time.

I could add a static page like that (perhaps with the further information/bibliography), rather than as a sub-forum. The only problem is keeping it maintained.

The N Gauge Society's list is far from complete - N Brass, Ten Commandments etc. are missing. Then there are the bits and pieces. If I want to build the C13 from Worsley Works where do I get the wheels, motor, vacuum pipes, chimneys etc. In 4mm if you trawl through the model railway workbenches, you can find these things, but no-one seems to kit build locos in N gauge (I hope someone contradicts me here!).

Ay up!

The 2mm boys DO kit-build, but they use much finer wheels and split chassis. Having seen a 2mm 9F with the body off, it looked more like watch making to me than loco building!

Anyway, they're worth a try for bits and pieces. N Gaugers tend to use RTR chassis.
